Mission

The mission of THINK socratic seminars is to make every young person feel important and to gain positive academic skills in the process. Too many students believe that no one cares about that they think or what they have to say. This is a shame. THINK socratic seminars was created for young people because each one of them should know that what they think does matter and that their voice does count in the world! In THINK socratic seminars “every voice counts.”

I spent two years researching socratic seminars and the benefits that it would have on the lives of Middle School and High School students. It seemed that there were only a few ways to enhance a student’s education outside of school – tutoring or test preparation courses. It was the same old story “memorize…study…regurgitate answers.” Students become bored with the same learning routine. Students tell me that they don’t participate in class because they might get an answer wrong and be perceived as “stupid” by teachers and their classmates – so they stay quiet. Students tell me that they are discouraged from asking questions – so they stay quiet. This is insane! At THINK socratic seminars they will have a platform to express their opinions no matter what they are. Everyone gives respect and everyone gets respect. Every student is a V.I.P. here!

The mission of THINK socratic seminars is to provide an environment where students will be able to think and express themselves without fear of grades, insults, or negative labels. It’s a place where students can develop confidence and social skills. They will develop important academic skills that will help them to be successful in school, in college, and in life. THINK socratic seminars will fill a void in a student’s education and students will be empowered!
